Akumi is a real-time creature based on my own original concept.This piece was made for Jared Krichevsky's Creature Modeling and Sculpting Class at Gnomon and later polished and optimized into a game ready asset.

Taking this project through the whole game pipeline allowed me to understand better the creative and technical difficulties of each step of the process. Although I learned something new in each step of the pipeline, I would say that texturing skin in Substance Painter was one of the main takeaways. I hand-painted most of the texture on this piece, which proved to be very technical. I had to learn about temperature areas in the skin, epidermal and subdermal layers, as well as figure out how that knowledge would translate to my creature.
